Marilyn Chambers
Nude

From Ivory Soap girl to the second-most-famous starlet of porno’s 1970s Golden Age to sci-fi scream queen, Marilyn Chambers‘s career has had more ins and outs than the gullet of her chief XXX rival, Linda “Deep Throat” Lovelace. Turned off by the casting couch mentality of Hollywood, bushy-tailed Chambers retreated to San Francisco and auditioned for Jim Mitchell and Artie Mitchell, two sibling pornographers with no hidden agenda. The resultant Behind the Green Door (1972) catapulted Marilyn to the apex of blue-screen adulation, from which height she attempted the leap into mainstream shock and schlock flicks. Her crowning hard-R moment was in director David Cronenberg‘s Rabid (1977), a horrific look at sexual illnesses gone awry in bizarre, sci-fi fashion. Marilyn spends a portion of the proceedings with her tits flailing openly. She is also equipped with a penis that protrudes from a vagina that grows under her arm. Marilyn Chambers eventually returned triumphantly to hardcore work, and it is no hard feat to find examples of penises invading every other nook and cranny of Marilyn Chambers’s anatomy in later-day XXX-rated classics such as Insatiable (1980), where she orgasmically enjoys anal sex with monster-meated John Holmes, and Up N’ Coming (1983), a highly regarded sex saga set in the realm of Urban–Cowboy-era country music. Ride ’em, cowgirl! Marilyn Chambers scored one more R-rated cult classic from there, the action-packed espionage comedy, Angel of H.E.A.T. (1983). After a successful leap to softcore in productions such as Marilyn Chambers’ Bedtime Stories during the late 1980s and throughout much of the ’90s, the iconic vixen laid low for a few years. Appropriately, on the cusp of the new millennium, Playboy named Marilyn Chambers as one of the Top 100 Sex Stars of the 20th Century. Tragically, Marilyn Chambers was found dead in her mobile home on April 12, 2009. But her lustful legend will liquefy loins forever.
